During the Playtex recall, I opened my linen closest to inspect my box of tampons, the brand I’ve been loyal to for 17 years. Sure enough, my stash was part of the recall. Call it a stroke of fate, or Marketing 101, I was soon targeted by a Lola ad which sent me down a Google rabbit hole. I learned Tampax, Kotex, and Always were all helmed by men. David and Michael to be exact. It was time for a swap.

Let’s chat products made by women for that time of month I’ve tested and swear by.

For when cramps hit:
Cloud 9 PMS Oil | $18
from Blume founded by Taran + Bunny

To start, I swear by Cloud 9 Oil from Blume to work magic on cramps. Sage, peppermint, and bergamot are just a few of the active ingredients.

For flow:
Cora Cup | $39
from Cora founded by Molly

Next up, for flow, a favorite is the Cora Cup. It’s friendly to your body, wallet, and our environment. What’s not to love?

P.S. Cora also gives back. With every purchase they give pads to a girls in developing countries.

For peace of mind:
Hiphugger| $34
from Thinx founded by Radha + Antonia

First time using a cup? Grab a pair of Thinx’s signature period underwear to ease into your new routine.

Not a fan of the cup:
Organic Tampons| $8
from Lola founded by Jordana + Alexandra

Hands down Lola is our go-to for organic tampons and pads. Choose your preference of applicator (cardboard, plastic, none), customize your box, and never forget to order with their subscription.
