Snow is falling, hot chocolate in hand, and the Home Alone soundtrack on repeat. It’s official — the magic of the Holiday Season is upon us. Along with it our inboxes are overflowing with promotions from Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday. Let’s be real, it’s a retail marathon out there. Do we really need another shopping holiday? If it’s impactful and aligns with your values — 100% yes.

One of our mottos at Dough is “with every purchase we make a statement about what we value.” It’s in our hands as shoppers to decide which consumer companies grow, scale, and succeed. Let’s invest in a day which empowers and directs our dollars in a meaningful way, complementing Small Business Saturday: Woman-Owned Wednesday.

In honor of Woman-Owned Wednesday gift a product with a story, a product with an impact. Walk the extra block to buy a latte from her cafe. Shop her products at Target, including Ella + Mila and Lipbar in the beauty aisle.

When you buy woman-owned you’re investing in -

Jenny showcasing her growth to investors allowing her and her team to collaborate with more artisans in Kenya.

Rebecca expanding her line of nude inclusive shoes.

Trinity and Genevieve continuing to form partnerships with household names like Sephora and J. Crew.

Bunny and Taran launching a stunning redesign of their packaging.

Micki bringing size and gender inclusivity to active wear.

Tanaïs crafting additional shades of lip colors made for women of color.

✨ Unicorn startups not being exclusive to men, including Jen and Emily, building travel and beauty empires, with Away and Glossier.

. . . and thousands more.

There’s a common idea floating around social media that by following a brand and liking a post, you’re helping to grow a business. While follows and likes are both very much appreciated, direct to consumer brands are not growing and scaling companies based on likes. They are growing them with dollars.

Starting today we’re encouraging you to show your receipts. Take a selfie with them, snap them next to your coffee, show them side-by-side with the products you love. Share how you’ve made an impact for a woman-owned business in a way that will allow her to raise funding, hire more talent, open another storefront — whatever she needs to grow and scale her business.

Together, we’ll make an impact with our wallets.

To celebrate the second annual Woman-Owned Wednesday, Dough is sharing $10 in shop credit when you shop woman-owned this holiday. Learn how here 👉🏾 and don’t forget to share Woman-Owned Wednesday with your fellow #WalletFeminists.
